Shearman & Sterling today announced the arrival of Emma Maconick, who joins as a partner in the Intellectual Property Transactions practice based in the Bay Area. Maconick is a leading technology transactions expert who also focuses on data, privacy and cybersecurity issues, and regularly represents many of the world’s most prominent technology companies in these important and evolving areas. Maconick advises on strategic technology alliances, complex IP licensing and cross-border and commercial transactions, while working on other Shearman & Sterling transactional matters. Maconick has a strong reputation nationally and internationally for helping clients drive growth through creating, developing, acquiring and commercializing advanced data and technology assets.

Maconick joins the firm from King & Spalding, where she served as a partner since 2012. She advises clients in industries ranging from e-commerce consumer platforms, FinTech, big data and analytics, cloud and edge computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, hardware and software product development, autonomous mobility and advanced virtual and augmented reality. She also frequently authors and speaks on emerging IP, data and technology trends.
