Duane Morris & Selvam LLP (DM&S) is pleased to announce that Ung Gim Sei has joined DM&S’s constituent firm Selvam LLC in Singapore. The addition of Ung as a director grows the capacity of the corporate practice in Singapore, particularly in intellectual property matters. He brings with him a wealth of experience, with more than 10 years of private practice in Singapore.

Ung focuses his practice on intellectual property matters, including trademark applications and infringement, Internet and media law. He is a regular contributor to the Chinese Singapore daily newspaper on legal topics, including cyber defamation.
Prior to practicing law, Ung spent 27 years in the media industry. He worked as a journalist and then later as Managing Director of the now-defunct Nanyang Siang Pau. In 1983, he became the Group General Manager, Chinese Newspapers Division, at Singapore Press Holdings and held that post until 1990. In 1991, Ung joined the Hong Kong Sing Tao Newspapers Group that publishes the Chinese Sing Tao Daily, which is circulated to Chinese communities around the world. Sing Tao Group also publishes the English Hong Kong Standard.
Ung graduated in 2002 from the National University of Singapore with a graduate diploma in Singapore Law. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, a Common Professional Examination in Law (London) and an LL.M. (Distinction) in Chinese and Comparative Laws from the City University of Hong Kong. He was admitted to practice in 2003.
