Troy is a leading restructuring lawyer with more than 13 years’ experience in the Asia Pacific region. He joins DLA Piper from Norton Rose Australia and was previously the restructuring practice leader at Clifford Chance for South East Asia, located in Singapore.
Troy specialises in financial and corporate restructuring and insolvency advice, distressed mergers and acquisitions, distressed debt trading (both portfolio and single asset deals) and other special opportunity transactions. He also has extensive experience in advising investment banks, private equity firms, hedge funds, insolvency practitioners and corporations on distressed situations throughout Australia, Singapore, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Philippines and China.
Troy commented, “I am attracted by the global reach and fully integrated services that DLA Piper offers. I am delighted to join the firm and look forward to continuing to provide support for Asian and Australian clients with their local and regional matters while identifying new opportunities to broaden my practice in a truly international firm.”
“As the lead partner for Asia, I will be working closely with my counterparts in the US, UK, Europe and Australia to provide clients with a seamless global restructuring and distressed investments practice, something few law firms are able to offer”.
Matthew Glynn, Country Managing Partner of DLA Piper Singapore, added, “Troy’s considerable reputation and experience will add significant strength to the range of service we offer in Singapore and Asia Pacific. Singapore is an important gateway for companies across South East Asia and East Asia and, in line with this, our office continues to play an increasingly important role as a regional centre. We are always looking for opportunities to invest in our talent and recruit highly regarded practitioners to join our team to deliver high calibre commercial legal advice to our clients.”
“Distressed investment opportunities are likely to be growing in scale and number given the ongoing volatility in financial markets and economic uncertainty combined with increased cross-border business in the region. Having Troy on board to drive the team regionally allows us to ramp up our capabilities to counsel clients in this key area,” said Lance Miller, Asia Regional Managing Partner of DLA Piper. “Troy will be an important leader in developing an international restructuring practice for the firm and will play a significant role aligning our Asia Pacific objectives with DLA Piper globally.”
Troy Doyle was recognised as one of Singapore’s leading restructuring and insolvency lawyers in Chambers Asia 2009. He is a frequent public speaker/ commentator on restructuring matters for media in the region.
