International law firm Bird & Bird today grows its Dispute Resolution practice with the appointment of commercial litigation specialist Lijun Chui as a partner in Singapore.
With extensive experience as a commercial litigator, Lijun specialises in commercial dispute resolution and contentious regulatory and investigation matters. Lijun has experience in international and domestic arbitrations involving the technology, banking, construction, shipping, oil and gas sectors. She also advises financial institutions and major corporations on various regulatory issues including market misconduct, competition and corruption legislation.
She joins from Clifford Chance where she spearheaded the Singapore tech disputes and regulatory practice, which was developed from a greenfield operation to a sizeable practice ranging from tech disputes and investigations to advising on cyber crisis handling and data privacy. She has supported clients on cyber-security, e-commerce, personal data protection, intellectual property and fintech matters.
Lijun’s practice is cross-border with clients headquartered in the United States, Europe and across South East Asia with a focus on inbound, as well as domestic, work. She advises clients on English law, Singapore law and on issues/disputes under the laws of India, Vietnam, Thailand and China (in partnership with local counsel).
Lijun was named as one of Singapore’s most influential lawyers aged 40 and under by the Singapore Business Review and a Top 50 IPR 2018 lawyer. Lijun has also been appointed on the leading arbitral institutions’ panels of arbitrators including the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), where she also serves on the Young SIAC Committee, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
