DLA Piper announced today that a team of three partners has joined the firm in its Corporate Group in Singapore. John Viverito and Myles Hankin are joining from Gibson Dunn, Singapore, and Joseph Bauerschmidt from Jones Day, Singapore. The three have worked together in the past and are reuniting as colleagues at DLA Piper. Each of John, Joe and Myles are ranked experts in their fields by Chambers and other leading legal guides.
Viverito has over 20 years’ experience in Asia. He has broad expertise in general corporate and commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, structured finance and real estate, with specialized industry knowledge in the energy sector. He has been involved in the development of numerous infrastructure projects, including the development of mines, power plants, pipelines, refineries, mass transit projects and telecommunications projects. John is currently Co-Chairman of the Energy Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore.
Bauerschmidt also brings with him more than two decades of capital markets and M&A experience, as well as a broad background in the energy industry. He principally focuses on securities offerings in public and private capital markets, representing banks as well as corporate issuers. Bauerschmidt spent several years working as an engineer in the oil and gas industry, and then began his legal career on Wall Street before moving to Asia in 1997 and has worked on numerous NASDAQ, NYSE, Singapore and Indonesia IPOs and more than 50 high-yield financings and restructurings throughout Asia.
Hankin brings nearly fifteen years’ experience in energy and natural resources, infrastructure, project finance, construction and transportation, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, lending and structured finance, as well as general corporate transactional and advisory work. He has worked across various jurisdictions, having spent extended periods of time in Mongolia, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand.
John Viverito will take on the role of Office Managing Partner for the Singapore office, succeeding John Goulios, who will assume a regional role as co-Head of the Asia Pacific insurance sector practice. Joe Bauerschmidt will join as Head of Capital Markets for Southeast Asia.
