Clifford Chance to Add Senior Real Estate and Infrastructure Partner Philip Podzebenko in Sydney

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance today announced that Philip Podzebenko will join the firm’s Corporate practice as a partner in Sydney. Philip will join from Herbert Smith Freehills in Sydney.

As one of Australia’s foremost real estate and infrastructure M&A lawyers, Philip will add senior capabilities in real estate and infrastructure investments, deepen relationships with private capital investors and strengthen Clifford Chance’s market-leading offerings in private equity, energy transition and infrastructure.

Philip brings more than 20 years of experience advising private capital and strategic investors on real asset M&A, public M&A and capital markets transactions. He has advised leading pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, private equity, investment banks, insurers and other financial investors on real asset investments both in Australia and across Asia. In the infrastructure space, he has advised clients on investments in the transportation, energy, telecommunications and digital infrastructure sectors.

Australia Managing Partner Richard Gordon said, “The momentum of our Corporate practice has contributed significantly to the success of the firm in Australia. Philip will be a tremendous addition to the team, broadening our financial investor transactional advice with his deep experience in real estate and infrastructure investments.”

Andrew Crook, Head of Asia Pacific Corporate said, “A strategic priority of ours is to deepen our bench strength advising private capital providers particularly as we continue to see strong investment interest across Australia and Asia in real assets. Philip’s first-class expertise and outstanding market reputation are natural complements to our ambitions. Having him join the team is a fantastic outcome for our clients and the firm.”

Clifford Chance has steadily expanded its bench of partners in Australia, recently adding antitrust and competition partner Elizabeth Richmond in Sydney and projects and contentious construction specialist Spencer Flay as a partner in Perth.
