Broad and Cassel Hires Three New Attorneys for Tallahassee Office

Statewide law firm Broad and Cassel today announced that Bruce I. Wiener, Wendy Russell Wiener and D. Bedford Wilder have joined the firm’s Tallahassee office.

Bruce Wiener joins Broad and Cassel as Partner in the Real Estate Practice Group after most recently serving as a Shareholder at Gardner, Bist, Wiener, Bowden, Bush, Dee, LaVia & Wright, P.A. in Tallahassee. The focus of his practice is in transactional real estate law, commercial and acreage lending and land use, as well as development law. He represents buyers and sellers in the purchase and sale of commercial, office, multifamily, acreage and timberland property and provides closing services and title insurance through certain underwriters for these types of transactions.

He is actively involved in various community organizations, including the Florida Bar (Real Property, Probate and Trust Law as well as Environmental and Land Use sections), the Tallahassee Bar Association, and the Board of Visitors of the Florida State University College of Law. He is a former member of the Transportation Planning Advisory Committee for Leon County and the City of Tallahassee, past president of the Coalition for Positive Growth Management for Leon County and the City of Tallahassee, and past chairman of the Growth Management Committee for the City of Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce. Bruce was recently appointed to serve on the Tallahassee market advisory board for Hancock Bank.

Board Certified in Real Estate by The Florida Bar, he is admitted to practice in Florida and in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida. Bruce graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He earned his juris doctor from Florida State University College of Law.

In addition, Wendy Russell Wiener joins Broad and Cassel’s Tallahassee office as Partner in the Regulatory Practice Group. She also most recently served as a Shareholder at Gardner, Bist, Wiener, Bowden, Bush, Dee, LaVia & Wright, P.A. She practices regulatory insurance law and regulatory deathcare industry law, representing entities and individuals who interact with the administrative agencies that regulate all aspects of insurance and the deathcare industry. The scope of representation of her clients includes all types of licensing (for individuals and entities), disciplinary matters, practice before the administrative tribunal, state and federal courts and interaction with regulators. She is a member of the Federation of Regulatory Counsel (FORC), a limited group of lawyers who focus their practices on regulatory insurance law.

Wendy is a member of the Federation of Regulatory Counsel; past president of Temple Israel in Tallahassee; co-chair of the Tallahassee Jewish Food Festival; is co-chair of the Southern Shakespeare Festival (Festival Day); a member of the ACT Board with the Young Actors Theatre; and has served as past president of Raising a Healthy Child, Inc.

She is admitted to practice in Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from the University of South Florida, and she received her juris doctor, with honors, from Florida State University College of Law.

Also joining the Real Estate Practice Group as an associate is D. Bedford Wilder, who most recently served as an associate at Gardner, Bist, Wiener, Bowden, Bush, Dee, LaVia & Wright, P.A. He will also be a member of the Banking and Institutional Lending Practice Group. Wilder practices in the areas of transactional real estate law, commercial lending and banking and finance. His practice also includes business formation, organization and related legal work.

He is admitted to practice in Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida. Wilder received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia before going on to obtain his juris doctor from Florida State University College of Law.

The addition of these three attorneys in the Tallahassee office is the latest in a series of new hires for Broad and Cassel throughout the state. Recent hires include Of Counsel Emery Rosenbluth, Leigh A. Williams and Paul R. DeMuro, in addition to Associates Alexandra Aparicio, Nicole Chong, Matthew Jaffe, Rachel Ricci, Benjamin Robinson and Shaina Stahl.
