Bruce Leonard joins Miller Thomson

Miller Thomson is pleased to announce that Bruce Leonard has joined the firm’s Toronto office as part of its Insolvency and Restructuring practice.

With lawyers in key centres across the country, the firm’s Insolvency and Restructuring Group is recognized for its depth and experience in advising clients across the full range of insolvency proceedings, from security enforcement to national and international financial reorganizations.

Bruce is a veteran in the field of insolvency both domestically in Canada and internationally. He has been prominent professionally in international insolvency organizations and associations in Canadian and in leading international insolvency and restructuring cases and proceedings for more than three decades. Recently he served as Lead Agent for the Federal Government in the restructurings of General Motors and Chrysler and as counsel for the largest single creditor in the Nortel CCAA proceedings.

Bruce is the Chair, a Director and Founder of the International Insolvency Institute, an invitational association of leading insolvency professionals that is represented in more than 60 countries; the past Chair of The Insolvency Institute of Canada, Canada’s leading private sector insolvency association and the only International Conferee of the US National Bankruptcy Conference, which advises Congress on matters of bankruptcy policy and is Chair of its International Committee. Bruce is a Elected Member of The American Law Institute and has served as a Director and Officer of the American College of Bankruptcy and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
