Leading Real Estate and Construction Litigator Michael Dingman Joins McGuireWoods in Tysons

Michael S. Dingman, an accomplished litigator with more than three decades of experience advising clients in real estate, construction and energy matters, has joined McGuireWoods as a partner in Tysons, Virginia. Dingman has tried more than 40 cases in federal and state court and before arbitration tribunals. Dingman joins McGuireWoods from Reed Smith, where he led the construction practice. 

Dingman represents in his national practice owners and developers, contractors and subcontractors in real estate and construction contract negotiations and in litigation. He has negotiated construction and design contracts for commercial, industrial and residential projects such as office buildings, hotels, mixed-use developments, manufacturing and processing facilities data centers, hospitals, elder care facilities and condominiums. He also handles energy-related disputes and general commercial litigation.

Dingman’s notable work includes successfully representing a hotel owner in a multimillion-dollar defects dispute; representing EPC contractors in multimillion-dollar disputes arising from power plant projects; drafting and negotiating agreements for national developers of projects throughout the U.S.; advising a major automaker in negotiating design and construction agreements for a new manufacturing plant; and representing natural gas companies in securing easement rights for pipeline projects.

Dingman is recognized as a leading lawyer in the respected Chambers USA guide, which stated: “He has fantastic judgment and a good business mind … he is very smart and strong in negotiations.” Dingman has been included on Virginia Business magazine’s Legal Elite list for construction law for many years and named a construction Super Lawyer since 2014. He also received the Fairfax Bar Association’s James Keith Award for pro bono service.
