Eamonn K. Moran has joined LeClairRyan as a partner on the firm’s banking industry team. He is resident in the national law firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
Moran has extensive experience handling matters in the financial services industry, including those pertaining to consumer financial services, consumer protection, fair lending, the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), the Dodd-Frank Act, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), where he previously served as counsel in the Office of Regulations.
In the private sector, Moran most recently served as a counsel in the Washington, D.C. offices of Kilpatrick Townsend and, previously, WilmerHale. His clients include major national banks, preeminent card issuers, large credit unions, mortgage servicers, and mortgage originators. He has also handled matters for other financial services providers and financial technology (fintech) companies, including mobile payment and digital wallet services.
As counsel in the Office of Regulations at the CFPB, Moran took part in several major rulemakings affecting the consumer financial services industry. Prior to joining the CFPB, Moran served as a senior attorney advisor at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he worked in the Office of the Special Inspector General for the TARP, and served as a counsel to the Congressional Oversight Panel for TARP.
A graduate of Georgetown University (B.A., J.D.), Moran is admitted in New York and Washington, D.C.
