Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Mark Grider has joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the firm’s Technology, Manufacturing & Transportation group.
Grider comes to the firm with years of experience as a trial lawyer and investigator, including 16 years working for various areas of the federal government. He will be a part of the Government Compliance, Investigations & Litigation team. Grider advises clients in the areas of white collar criminal investigations, anti-corruption policies, whistleblower complaints and regulatory enforcement actions; healthcare; and government contracting. Grider also represents clients facing government investigations and conducts internal investigations for corporate clients in response to government subpoenas, congressional inquiries and allegations of misconduct.
Immediately prior to joining Husch Blackwell, Grider served as Deputy General Counsel to a Select Committee at the U.S. House of Representatives, where he contributed to the handling of congressional investigative subpoenas. Grider also helped develop strategic legal and policy plans for a thorough high-profile, international fact-based Congressional investigation into the attack on the U.S. Embassy facility in Benghazi, Libya.
As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Grider was a member of the Department of Justice Medicare Task Force, coordinating civil/criminal proceedings in an effort to save and recover government funds. He led investigations into corporate healthcare fraud and also managed False Claim Act cases, assisting in over $5 million in civil settlement negotiations with major corporate hospitals.
Later, as deputy compliance officer of a national healthcare company, Grider managed a corporate compliance group responsible for reporting fact-finding and analysis on enterprise-wide compliance risk issues, including anti-kickback statute risk, billing and False Claims Act risk, and CIA-related matters.
Grider received his J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law (1998) and his B.A. magna cum laude from Truman State University (1995).
