Enhancing its esteemed group of Intellectual Property and Financial Services attorneys, Rimon welcomes Marc Kaufman as a partner in its Washington, DC office.
Mr. Kaufman joins Rimon from Reed Smith, where he was a partner and served as co-leader for the firm’s FinTech team. He assisted clients in managing and monetizing their intellectual property assets and defending against patent assertions in district court and through post-grant administrative proceedings such as Inter Partes Reviews.
Mr. Kaufman focuses his practice on intellectual property and patent strategy in particular. Working extensively in the Fintech space, he also has experience in media and advertising technology, database/search engine and web analytics. His technical work includes distributed ledgers and digital currencies, securities trading exchanges content aggregation and targeting, digital rights management, database technology, search engine technology and data mining.
He has been very active in creating procedures for procuring and enforcing IP rights as well as structuring and negotiating IP transactions.Mr. Kaufman has served as a chair of the Law Seminars International Conferences on patent monetization, which are held across the U.S. to provide education and industry insights to business consultants and in-house counsel alike. Mr. Kaufman has been named to the Intellectual Asset Management’s IAM 350 Top Patent Strategies every year since its inception. He currently serves as Pro Bono Counsel of the Center for Transformative Teaching & Learning.

Mr. Kaufman received his J.D. from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law and his B.S. from Boston University, where he studied Mechanical Engineering.
