O’Melveny Welcomes Leading Bank Regulatory Lawyer Jarryd Anderson

O’Melveny announced today that leading bank regulatory lawyer Jarryd Anderson has joined the firm as a partner based in Washington, DC. He will advise financial institutions, banks, fintech companies, and their investors on transactional, regulatory, supervisory, and enforcement matters. He comes to O’Melveny from WilmerHale, where he served in the Financial Institutions Group and the Bank Regulation and Enforcement Practice.

Anderson has served as a policy advisor at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, where he helped develop rules and regulatory policy, implemented aspects of the Dodd-Frank Act, and represented the Federal Reserve Board before international bodies. He has also served as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at the Bank Policy Institute; Vice President and Counsel at TD Bank; and Vice President and Senior Counsel at Wells Fargo.

With his vast knowledge of U.S. banking laws—including the Dodd-Frank Act, the Bank Holding Company Act, the Change in Bank Control Act, the International Banking Act, the Bank Secrecy Act, and the Bank Service Company Act—Anderson will expand O’Melveny’s capacity to serve banks and other financial clients, fintech companies, minority depository institutions, and investors who are active in the financial services and fintech sector.

Anderson serves as chair of the M&A and Strategic Initiatives Subcommittee of the American Bar Association’s Banking Law Committee. He is also a member of the executive council of the Federal Bar Association’s Banking Law Section, a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar’s Finance Forum.

“With the surge in innovation and growing regulatory scrutiny in the financial services sector, Jarryd’s tremendous talent, extensive experience, and fluency in banking regulations will make him an immediate asset to our clients. I am delighted to welcome him to the firm,” said O’Melveny Chair Bradley J. Butwin.

“Jarryd strengthens our ability to guide traditional financial institutions, as well as novel fintech companies, in today’s complex market. It is a pleasure to have him on board,” added O’Melveny partner Elizabeth L. McKeen, co-chair of O’Melveny’s Financial Services Practice.

“I was drawn to O’Melveny’s well-earned reputation for providing superior service to clients in the financial services, banking, and fintech sectors. And I was impressed by the firm’s commitment to creating a collaborative, collegial, and inclusive working environment. I’m excited to join O’Melveny’s top-tier team,” said Anderson.

Anderson’s addition reflects O’Melveny’s commitment to bolstering the firm’s talented roster of regulatory advisors, expanding its depth in Washington, DC, and recruiting outstanding diverse lawyers. His arrival follows the addition of AnnaLou Tirol, former Deputy Director of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), who joined O’Melveny’s Washington office as a partner in October.

Anderson holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, an LL.M. in Securities & Financial Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center, a J.D. from Rutgers Law School, and a B.A. from La Salle University.
