Orrick announced today that energy tax authority Scott Cockerham has joined the firm as a partner, based in Washington, D.C. He joins the firm from Kirkland & Ellis.
“As markets focus on decarbonization, all of the conditions are ripe for accelerated growth of the renewable energy sector. We’re delighted to add talent of Scott’s exceptional caliber to help our clients respond to this demand,” said Dahl Thompson, leader of Orrick’s global Energy & Infrastructure practice. The firm ranks #1 for renewables in Q121 (Inframation).
Scott advises clients on energy tax credits and other tax incentives relating to renewable energy projects, project development and finance, and mergers and acquisitions. His experience extends across the renewable energy and energy transition landscape: solar, wind, geothermal, fuel cell, biomass and carbon capture and sequestration.
“Orrick is a market leader in energy and infrastructure, and the firm’s commitment to renewables in particular is unmatched,” said Scott. “I’m excited to join the Orrick team and help guide our clients through the ever-evolving world of renewables and energy transition.”
Scott will team with Wolfram Pohl, an Orrick tax equity partner based in San Francisco. “Together, they will be an extraordinary team,” added Chas Cardall, head of Orrick’s tax practice.
Orrick’s U.S. renewables practice is ranked Band 1 by Chambers and Legal 500 for 2020 and was a Law360 Project Finance Group of the Year for 2020 – for the seventh time.
