Paul, Weiss Adds Antitrust Partner in Washington

Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP announced today that Christopher M. Wilson has joined the firm as a partner in the Litigation Department, resident in Washington. A former trial lawyer of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, Wilson advises clients on a full range of antitrust matters, including merger control, cross-border antitrust investigations and private party litigation involving complex antitrust and consumer protection issues.  Wilson was most recently with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in DC before joining the firm.

Wilson has handled numerous major merger reviews before the FTC and the DOJ, and advises on matters implicating the Sherman Act, the Clayton Act, the FTC Act and the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) merger review process, as well as international and state competition statutes. His representations include, among others, Pioneer Natural Resources in its acquisition by ExxonMobil; Platinum Equity in its acquisition of Solenis; GE Healthcare in its acquisition of BK Medical; Xylem in its acquisition of Evoqua; Spark Therapeutics in its acquisition by Roche; and Stone Canyon Industries in its acquisition of Morton Salt. He has also handled cross-border investigations involving the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Korea and Saudi Arabia, among other jurisdictions. His work has involved a wide range of industries, including health insurance, transportation, telecommunications, technology, energy, agriculture and biotechnology.

Prior to private practice, Wilson was a trial attorney in the Transportation, Energy & Agriculture Section of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, where he played a prominent role in numerous high-profile matters, and was twice awarded the Division’s Award of Distinction. During his time at the DOJ, Wilson investigated numerous high-profile transactions, including CVS/Aetna, Bayer/Monsanto, Alaska Airlines/Virgin America, Aetna/Humana, Anthem/Cigna and Halliburton/Baker Hughes. He is an active member of the ABA Antitrust Section’s Transportation & Energy Industries Committee, and has published in Competition Law International, The Antitrust Health Care Chronicle, The M&A Lawyer, and other antitrust newsletters and publications.

Wilson earned a B.A. from New York University and a J.D. from Columbia University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar, and served as an editor on the Columbia Business Law Review.
