Allen & Overy (“A&O”) today announced that Scott Cockerham has joined the firm as a partner in its U.S. Projects, Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure (PENRI) practice. Scott joins from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe (Orrick), where he was a partner in the global Energy & Infrastructure team.
Scott has over a decade of experience providing practical tax and commercial advice in relation to the development, financing (including tax equity financing and tax credit transferability transactions), purchase and sale of energy and infrastructure projects. He regularly advises clients on the tax aspects of investments across the renewable energy and energy transition landscape, including solar, on-shore and off-shore wind, battery storage, hydrogen, fuel cell, geothermal, biomass and carbon capture utilization and sequestration projects.
Karen Seward and Kent Rowey, U.S. Co-Chairs, added in a joint statement, “The impact of the World’s progress toward cleaner energy has been accelerating, and clients are focusing their strategic plans to embrace the change. Scott is a critical element in continuing our growth and addressing client needs—both in the U.S. and globally.”
Dan Sinaiko, co-chair of A&O’s U.S. PENRI practice, added, “We are thrilled to welcome Scott back to work with our team. Through our work with him at prior firms we are confident his high quality, hard-working and steady presence on the energy tax team will continue to build A&O’s reputation as a leader in Energy Transition.”
The global strength of the team at A&O is unlike any other, and I look forward to joining my former and new colleagues in helping our clients navigate the complexities of the energy transition landscape.
