Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP has added Kenneth L. Wiseman and Mark F. Sundback in Washington, D.C. Wiseman and Sundback join Sheppard Mullin’s Energy, Infrastructure and Project Finance team and the Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental practice group from Andrews Kurth Kenyon LLP.

Wiseman, who was previously chair of Andrews Kurth Kenyon’s Energy Regulatory Section, focuses his practice on the regulation of the electric and natural gas industries. For more than 30 years, Wiseman has been litigating complex energy cases and providing strategic advice to senior company executives on all aspects of electric and gas regulation and related commercial undertakings. He has extensive experience practicing before the FERC and arguing cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and Ninth Circuits, the Florida Supreme Court, the Maryland Court of Appeals and other state and federal courts. Wiseman also counsels market participants on the interpretation and application of the market rules, terms and conditions of service and settlement procedures under the tariffs of Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs).
Sundback has been extensively engaged in the representation of energy industry participants before federal and state agencies charged with jurisdiction over energy markets and their participants for more than 30 years. He has represented numerous natural gas companies and served in a first chair capacity in hearings before the FERC as well as judicial appeals. His representations have focused on the rates, terms and conditions associated with gaining access to regulated energy transmission systems, transactions involving changes in ownership of jurisdictional assets and unbundling matters. His practice also includes issues under the Natural Gas Act, the Federal Power Act and related federal and state statutes.
Wiseman received a J.D. from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in 1977 and a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin in 1971. Sundback received a J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1981 and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Dickinson College in 1978. Wiseman and Sundback are recognized as leading lawyers by Chambers Global, Chambers USA, Legal 500 U.S., among others.
Last month, the Washington, D.C. office also welcomed Labor and Employment partner Denise Giraudo from Ogletree Deakins and Government Contracts, Investigations and International Trade partner Joe Jay from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft.
