Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP today announced that James E. Anderson, a nationally recognized asset management and enforcement lawyer, has joined the firm as a partner in the Washington office. Mr. Anderson, who joins the firm as a member of Willkie’s Asset Management Group, has more than 20 years of experience representing investment advisers, hedge funds, mutual funds, banks and broker-dealers in transactional, regulatory, compliance and enforcement matters.
“We are extremely pleased by Jim’s decision to join our Washington office,” said Willkie Co-Chairman Thomas Cerabino. “We have known Jim for many years, and he brings a wealth of experience in financial regulatory matters.”
“Jim adds great depth and experience to our practice,” agreed Partner Barry Barbash, who is co-head of the Asset Management Group. “We are confident that with Jim’s significant experience on the transactional side, as well as in examination and enforcement-related activities, he will play a key role in our group.”
“I am delighted to join an asset management practice that I have long held in the highest regard. I look forward to working with my colleagues to help clients address critical issues arising from an increasingly challenging regulatory environment,” Mr. Anderson stated. A central component of his practice is representing investment advisors and hedge funds in examination and enforcement-related inquiries by self-regulatory organizations and the SEC. He also advises clients on compliance matters.
Mr. Anderson was previously a partner at WilmerHale, where he served as Chair of the Investment management Practice, among other positions. Early in his career, he served as a Staff Attorney in the SEC’s Office of Investment Company Regulation of the Division of Investment Management.
