Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, announced today that Jeffrey Lehtman has joined the firm’s government investigations practice as partner in the Washington, D.C., office. Lehtman most recently served as co-chair of the litigation department at Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP (RK&O) where he joined the firm as an associate in 2007 and was subsequently promoted to partner.
Lehtman brings with him nearly two decades of experience assisting clients with internal and government investigations, regulatory compliance, and complex cross-border litigation. He has particular expertise in counseling clients in connection with civil, criminal, and regulatory issues arising in international operations, including across Latin America where he has been widely recognized for his work representing leading companies in connection with international compliance matters and investigations. Lehtman represents multinational companies, financial institutions, and international development banks, as well as their officers and directors, in connection with investigations before the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and numerous other domestic and foreign regulatory and government bodies.
“As the marketplace has become truly global in nature, multinational enterprises face an increasing array of regulatory obligations across the various markets in which they operate,” said Doug Clark, the firm’s managing partner. “Jeff and the firm’s team are well versed in helping clients to navigate these challenges, both from the standpoint of preventing risk through compliance and in connection with government investigations—from smaller, informal inquiries to larger-scale, formal investigations. We are delighted that Jeff has joined the firm and look forward to collaborating with him in this increasingly important area.”
In addition to RK&O, Lehtman was senior regional counsel at Citibank, overseeing regulatory, litigation, and corporate matters involving Latin America. He also served as a trial attorney in the Office of International Affairs within the DOJ’s Criminal Division. Lehtman began his career as an associate at WilmerHale in Washington, D.C., and also has been a partner with the international law firm of Allen & Overy.
Lehtman earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2000, and received his B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 1997. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
