Winston & Strawn LLP is pleased to announce that Christopher Man has joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as a partner. He joins from Norton Rose Fulbright, where he worked closely with white collar defense and trial attorney and recent Winston Partner Abbe Lowell.
“Chris is an excellent addition to our growing white collar practice in Washington,” said Seth Farber, co-chair of Winston’s White Collar, Regulatory Defense & Investigations Practice. “His substantial experience with a host of white collar issues, in particular government investigations and ethical compliance, will be critical as we continue to expand our platform.”
Christopher’s practice focuses on civil litigation, white collar criminal litigation, appeals, internal investigations, and investigations conducted by Congress and the Executive Branch. He has defended clients accused of violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, money laundering laws, trade sanctions, securities laws, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, and federal election laws. Christopher also advises companies on compliance with anti-bribery laws and trade sanctions, including establishing compliance programs and addressing day-to-day compliance issues for newly established project companies.
“I’ve worked with Chris for nearly 15 years on a number of notable representations,” said Abbe Lowell, co-chair of the firm’s White Collar, Regulatory Defense & Investigations Practice. “He has deep experience in compliance, internal investigations, pre-trial and trial issues in the practice, and is an excellent lawyer. I’m delighted to continue our work together here at Winston, a firm that has established itself as one of the premier litigation and white collar defense firms in the world. Chris’s addition makes this deep bench of talented attorneys even deeper.”
Christopher’s high-profile representations since the beginning of 2017 include the successful eleven-week trial of criminal charges against sitting Senator Bob Menendez; Presidential Senior Advisor Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump as ethics counsel, assisting in the filing of financial disclosures required by their White House service and advising them on compliance with federal ethics laws; Barry Bekkedam in a pending Third Circuit appeal concerning convictions related to an alleged fraud on the Treasury’s Troubled Assets Relief Program; and former Puerto Rico Senator Hector Martinez in a pending First Circuit appeal concerning convictions related to bribery following a second trial.
