Womble Bond Dickinson Adds Capital Markets Duo in Washington

Experienced financial services and capital markets attorneys Laura E. Hoag and Joseph J. Ricotta have joined the firm’s Washington office as partner and of counsel, respectively. Laura focuses her practice on domestic and international financings, debt restructurings, and commercial business transactions; Joe focuses his practice on transactional law and debt finance. Laura and Joe join Womble from Squire Patton Boggs’s Cleveland office.

“Laura and Joe are strategic and complementary additions to the Capital Markets practice. Their lending and financing experience adds breadth and depth to our financial service capabilities on both sides of the Atlantic, which will be of tremendous value to our clients,” said Merrick Benn, who leads the firm’s Capital Markets practice.

They join a team of more than 200 financial services sector lawyers located across the United States and the United Kingdom, representing nearly half of the top 100 U.S. banks, including 17 of the top 25.

Laura regularly advises national and international financial institutions and corporate clients in connection with a variety of credit facilities. Her experience includes negotiating, documenting, and managing secured and unsecured loan transactions, including private equity sponsor transactions, bilateral and syndicated credit facilities, multi-currency and cross-border lending facilities, split-collateral pool transactions, asset-based lending facilities, bridge financings, mezzanine financings, and private note offerings.

Joe represents financial institutions and other entities in a wide variety of transactional and commercial financing-related matters, including senior and subordinated credit facilities, secured single bank and syndicated asset-based and cash flow loans, acquisition finance transactions, and workouts and restructurings. He also has significant experience working on cross-border lending transactions in North America and Europe. He has dealt with borrowers in a broad array of industries, including manufacturing, technology, software, healthcare, hospitality, retail, and business services.
