Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome accomplished business attorney and litigator Rafael X. Zahralddin to its Wilmington office as a partner in the firm’s Corporate, Bankruptcy & Insolvency, and Complex Business & Commercial Litigation Practices. Mr. Zahralddin brings to Lewis Brisbois almost three decades of experience advising clients in corporate and commercial litigation, insolvency, distressed mergers and acquisitions, compliance, entity formation, corporate governance, commercial transactions, cyber law, regulatory actions, cross-border issues, and digital asset-related matters. Mr. Zahralddin arrives to the firm from Armstrong Teasdale in Wilmington.
In addition to working with a diverse range of clients, Mr. Zahralddin has held various leadership positions within the legal industry. He has served as co-chair of the International Committee of the American Bankruptcy Institute, recently leading a global insolvency project for the organization with lawyers from across the globe, in which they examined and reported on the international legal and regulatory responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Zahralddin is also a Business Law Fellow of the American Bar Association, a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a National Association of Corporate Directors Governance Fellow, and was recently appointed to the Diversity and Inclusion Standing Committee of the Federal Bar Association. He has also served as general counsel to the Hispanic National Bar Association.
In discussing his decision to join Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Zahralddin explained that he admired the firm’s national platform and commitment to diversity. “I was attracted to Lewis Brisbois because of its dedication to diversity, which is very real. In addition, Mr. Zahralddin described his enthusiasm about joining Wilmington Managing Partner Francis G.X. Pileggi, noting, “I am looking forward to working with one of the best Delaware Chancery Court practitioners around. Our practices are complementary and established and will enhance the services we can both now provide our clients.”
Similarly, Mr. Pileggi said of Mr. Zahralddin’s arrival, “I am so pleased that Rafael has joined our team. Mr. Zahralddin earned his law degree from Delaware Law School Widener University and an L.L.M. in International and Comparative Law from Georgetown University Law Center. He received his undergraduate degree in Architecture from the University of Virginia. Mr. Zahralddin is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Delaware, New York, and Pennsylvania, as well as in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
